How A Box Portable Storage Got Started
A Box is a husband-and-wife business. Steve and his wife started renting out portable storage units twenty years ago, right here in Cambridge, and they still run the company together today.
The two of them came at it from different sides. Steve spent most of his working life in sales and service, taking care of customers and making sure jobs got done right. His wife grew up in the storage industry — her family has worked in storage for most of their lives. Putting those two things together felt natural, so they did.
What came out of it is simple. We bring the box to you, or you rent one on our lot. You get a straight answer about what size you need and what it costs before you book. We build with wood because it breathes in Bay-country humidity instead of sweating the way metal does, and we price delivery as one flat fee by zone — quoted up front, each way — so there is no surprise at the end.
We take real pride in our customers. As we like to say, we enjoy giving great service at a fair price. The owner still answers the phone. If you get voicemail, you will hear back the same or next business day — that is how it has worked since day one.

20 years delivering storage containers on Delmarva
Steve has run A Box out of Cambridge with his wife since 2006. He takes the calls, quotes the jobs, and knows which shell driveways need a careful approach and which yards stay soft for a week after a nor'easter.
Twenty years of Eastern Shore weather taught him why wood containers hold up better here than steel ones, and twenty years of customers taught him to give a straight answer about what size you actually need — usually the smallest one that works. Call us and he's the one who picks up.
